If I thought I had enough worries for one day, I was
so wrong about that.
The moment we crossed the threshold of Alan’s house, I
saw another surprise waiting for me there. Nolan was sitting on Alan’s sofa,
reading a newspaper. And, God help me, he WAS visible!
“Hey! There you are, my good friends!” he sang, coming
to greet us.
“What do you think you are doing?” I asked, my hands
on my hips.
“It’s okay,” Alan said. “You said he was a friend of
yours, so I suppose he’s an angel too.”
“He’s smart!” Nolan said, amused.
I sighed and went to the kitchen, saying on the way,
“This is Nolan Porter, a fallen angel.”
“No way!” I heard Alan saying excitedly. “A fallen
angel in my house! Welcome home, dude!”
I shook my head, frustrated. Somehow, I wasn’t
surprised by Alan’s reaction. His house used to be a paradise for sinisters
after all. Thank God, now he had me. I wasn’t going to let this nice place
become a bordello again.
